Midnight Vibe

The Midnight Vibe (version V3) is my take on the legendary original Uni-Vibe circuit in its various forms over the years it was in production (Honey, Unicord, Shin Ei). I offer three specifications of the circuit which includes ‘68, ‘69, and Hybrid or “transitional” spec.

AVAILABLE SPECIFICATIONS:

'68 Spec: The ‘68 spec delivers the chewiest most organic, liquid bottom end feel while still retaining a nice definition. It offers a higher available top speed and reacts with more wild intensity at faster settings.

'69 Spec: The ‘69 spec provides a smoother, clearer and more controlled feel. It has a slower overall speed range and produces a very fluid and articulate sweep. This version is great for players who prefer the tones of David Gilmour, Robin Trower, Mike McCready and who want a more refined and vocal character with excellent clarity. Also great for Jimi at Filmore East tones

Hybrid: The Hybrid or “transition” spec. takes the overall response of the '68 spec (lush, chewy throb, higher top speed) and adds some beautiful clear phasey top end. Lots of articulation. This spec is great for Hendrix at Maui or late 1969-1970 tour tones

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS:

  • 7mm LDR CdS Photocells chosen and matched for the correct response.
  • Premium transistors chosen for the correct gain range and performance.
  • 100% hand-wired, hand soldered circuitry including the full sized exact replica of the original circuit board.
  • 100% analog circuit.
  • NOS Japanese made C2-V incandescent bulb with accurate characteristics for the right performance.
  • High quality capacitors for low leakage and consistent performance.

CONTROLS AND FUNCTIONS:

VOLUME: Sets overall output level and drive of the preamp.
SPEED: Adjusts the effect rate.
INTENSITY: Adjusts the depth of the effect.
CHORUS/VIBRATO SWITCH: switches between CHORUS mode or VIBRATO mode.
BYPASS FOOTSWITH: Utilizes true bypass to bypass the effect and preamp.
CANCEL FOOTSWITCH: Disables the bulb and effect allowing just the preamp to remain active.

POWER REQUIREMENTS:

2.1mm power jack wired center negative utilizing 18vdc or 21vdc (recommended) with at least 200ma current.
21v operation can be achieved with a voltage doubler cable such as one made by Voodoo Lab or Cioks (with RCA connections for Cioks supplies) and using two outlets (one at 9v and one at 12v for a total of 21v to the pedal) from a good multi isolated power supply such as those made by Strymon, Cioks, Voodoo Lab and more. Feel free to contact me for guidance on what can be used.

Note: Pedals that have the "5-pin Din w/ Switch" addition comes in ALL colors, not just white. Example photo is the "White Smoke" colorway.

Each pedal is meticulously made-to-order and backed by a 1-year, non-transferrable warranty against operational defects. Please allow up to 10 business days for the build process. You'll receive a tracking number once your pedal is on its way.

Engaging Read for Beginners and Techies Alike
Format: Paperback
An engaging and accessible exploration of how computers really work. The author breaks down complex concepts into simple, relatable explanations, making topics like binary, logic gates, and basic circuits far less intimidating. For newcomers, it’s a great way to build a foundational understanding of computer theory with just a touch of electrical engineering. As someone with a technical background, I still found it entertaining; the examples and analogies added fresh ways to frame ideas I already knew. It’s the kind of book that can bridge the gap between “I use computers” and “I understand what’s happening under the hood.” Highly recommended for anyone curious about what makes hardware and software tick, whether you’re starting from scratch or just want a new perspective.
